20/9/12

The only one to get up early today was Karen. She went for a walk along the beach and through town before Mary-Anne and I rose to meet the day. After coffee and tea we went for a drive through town and stopped at the Shell Roadhouse and viewed a replica of a 1540kg 5 metre white pointer shark that was caught in 1990 by 21 y/o Dion Gilmore. Then we drove to the Cape Bauer Loop Coastal Scenic Drive. Our first stop was at Hallys Beach where there are whistling rocks and blowholes. A boardwalk leads down to holes in the limestone rocks where air is expelled when waves flow into the openings at sea level. The board walk continues to a large gap in the limestone cliff where waves crash continuously against the walls. There are large tunnels that descend deep into the limestone and may, on a day when the weather is really rough, be the blowholes. It didn't matter that the blowholes weren't working as the scenery was tremendous. On the loop back to town we stopped at Moore's Boat Ramp. We were surprised to find that there is a charge to launch a boat at a public boat ramp in South Australia. Next we headed for the Westall Point Loop Road. Our first stop was at Tractor beach which is also a camping ground. Then we stopped at the High Cliffs Lookout with beautiful views across a bay to high limestone cliffs. Then we stopped at the Granites. We took the long steep stairway down to sea level and marvelled at the extensive formations of granite rock jutting out to sea. Then it was on to Westall Point. After a long walk over rocky ground we were came to the Point which provided great views of the Southern Ocean crashing into the cliffs. On the way home we stopped at Smooth Pool, Fisherman's Paradise and Yanerbie. The last two were small fishing villages. We were tired when we arrived home and had tea and went to bed.

Today we decided to stay put and take care of chores around the caravans. Mary-Anne cooked scones and named a heap of photos. Karen knitted, went for a walk up town and watched TV and I updated the computer diary and did some fishing.

22/9/12

It was very windy this morning and a storm passed through about 9am. Karen got home from a walk just after it started raining. We did bugger all again today as the weather was not good. It blew all day and made it very uncomfortable.
