1/9/12

We left Albany this morning and headed north towards the Wheat Belt. We stopped at the Stirling Ranges Lookout as we drove through the Stirling Ranges National Park. There are some very impressive mountain peaks and it has been known to snow on the top of some, but no snow today. As we drove north, the canola and wheat fields got bigger and bigger. The contrasting colours of canola's brilliant yellow and the deep green of the wheat was spectacular and made the drive more enjoyable. We stopped at the little town of Borden and had lunch. A Variety Club Rally also had lunch there and were very noisy with their sirens and horns blasting as they arrived. After lunch we drove to the town of Lake Grace and booked into the caravan park. The park is small and spacious and reminded us of Marble Bar. The elderly lady owner was very lovely and walked us around the park and showed us where to put our vans. She told us the local Sportsman's Club was having a BBQ tonight and that the meals were reasonably priced. The girls decided to be nice to me for once and suggested we go out for tea and celebrate Father's Day which was the next day. Well, I'm glad we did. The meal was great and there was steak and chips, not mush food. We all had a great night!
