7/10/12

We left Port Augusta at about 9.15am and drove to Port Germien. We walked out onto the jetty and were amazed by the homemade registered vehicles parked in the shallow water that were used to launch small runabouts. It could only happen in South Australia!

We had a quick look around town before heading off and our next stop was at Port Pirie. We found the Visitor Information Centre and collected some brochures on Adelaide's attractions.

We drove to Solomon Town Beach and had lunch in a lovely park overlooking the water. After lunch we drove around town for about half an hour trying to find the road out. It was not all wasted time though as we saw many wonderful stone houses before eventually finding the highway out of town.

Our next stop was at Bumbunga Salt Lake where we took some photographs. Then we continued on and finally arrived at Port Parham Foreshore Camp Ground for the night. We camped behind the dunes and found the Council had supplied water taps for campers as well as a very clean toilet block and BBQ area. It would be a great spot to spend a few days but we have to get to Adelaide so the Prado can be serviced.
